Principal Technical Audio Designer

Technical Audio Designers create and maintain the technical systems that enable sound to function within interactive environments, combining sound design with technical implementation to ensure audio behaves correctly and efficiently during gameplay. Their work typically includes designing and implementing sound effects and interactive audio elements, developing and maintaining audio tools, scripts, and pipelines, integrating audio assets into game engines, troubleshooting and debugging audio systems and tools, and supporting performance and memory requirements across platforms. This role commonly collaborates with sound designers and audio programmers while also working closely with programmers, game designers, artists, and other developers to ensure audio systems align with gameplay requirements and technical constraints.

  • Coordinate automated, functional, qualitative, and performance testing efforts using manual and whitebox testing techniques to analyse quality across Unreal Engine Audio feature sets
  • Build test strategies and test plans to cover features in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Perform and own the process for automation code reviews with developers and other QA team members
  • Report and track quality-centric metrics to upper management and use data to drive conversations around quality and development health
  • Apply methodical approaches to tasks and problem solving to find and accurately log defects
  • Provide in depth feedback on user experience from a general and audio perspective
