A Lead in the Code discipline owns the technical direction, quality and delivery of a programming team (for example gameplay, engine, graphics, tools, online, data or security engineering). The role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management: setting architecture and coding standards, line-managing and mentoring engineers, planning and estimating work with production, and acting as the technical point of contact between engineering and other disciplines. A Lead continues to contribute high-quality code while raising the capability, consistency and delivery of the whole team.
- Extensive hands-on programming experience (commonly C++ / C# and discipline-specific languages) with a proven record of shipping titles
- Ability to define architecture, design patterns and frameworks, and to set and enforce coding standards and best practice
- Technical leadership: guiding architecture decisions, code review, debugging and performance/optimisation
- Experience leading and line-managing engineers, including objective-setting and performance management
- Strong grasp of pipelines, build/infrastructure and cross-team technical dependencies
