midweight Online Programmer

Online Programming is responsible for building and maintaining the networked systems and backend infrastructure that enable connected gameplay features, including multiplayer functionality and live online services. This role designs, implements, and debugs robust and scalable online features on both client and server, supporting game production with asynchronous and real-time networking capabilities. It ensures the performance, reliability, and maintainability of online components by optimising code, resolving technical issues, and contributing to continuous improvements in deployment and operations. Online Programmers support development workflows related to online systems integration, feature implementation, and live service updates, while collaborating closely with gameplay programmers, designers, producers, and cross-functional technical teams to align online features with broader game development objectives.

Salary

£34k

  • Experience with C++
  • Experience developing and optimizing online systems written in C# (.NET 6.0 and above)
  • Experience building and deploying cloud providers such as Google Cloud, AWS and Azure
  • Experienced with databases and database design with MySQL
  • Experience with RESTful web services using MVC Web API
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, UDP and NAT
  • Good knowledge of P2P based networking
  • Good knowledge of the behavior and impact of network latency
  • Experience with Perforce and Jenkins
  • CI/CD pipeline experience
  • Experience with Anti-Cheat systems/infrastructures, with knowledge of information security
