Senior Engine Programmer
Engine Programmers design, implement, and maintain the foundational systems of a game engine, ensuring its performance, stability, and scalability across platforms. Their work focuses on developing low-level systems, optimising memory and CPU usage, and building tools and workflows that support efficient content creation and real-time execution. They contribute to core architecture, streaming systems, and engine features, regularly testing and debugging to maintain high technical standards. Engine Programmers work closely with art, design, QA, and production teams to integrate technical solutions that meet development needs while minimizing performance costs, supporting the broader game development process through robust and adaptable engine infrastructure.
- Highly proficient C/C++, whilst also using GLSL, Python, and some Java
- Extensive knowledge of Unreal Engine or similar game engines, particularly in engine-level programming
- Strong knowledge of industry standard development tools: source control, asset pipelines, issue tracking
- Familiarity with at least one graphics API (e.g., DirectX, Vulkan, OpenGL)
- Experience with GPU profiling tools such as Nsight and RenderDoc
- Both practical and theoretical experience with the rendering and physics of materials and lighting in a modern 3D game engine
