Senior Online Programmer

Online Programming is responsible for building and maintaining the networked systems and backend infrastructure that enable connected gameplay features, including multiplayer functionality and live online services. This role designs, implements, and debugs robust and scalable online features on both client and server, supporting game production with asynchronous and real-time networking capabilities. It ensures the performance, reliability, and maintainability of online components by optimising code, resolving technical issues, and contributing to continuous improvements in deployment and operations. Online Programmers support development workflows related to online systems integration, feature implementation, and live service updates, while collaborating closely with gameplay programmers, designers, producers, and cross-functional technical teams to align online features with broader game development objectives.

Salary

£70k

  • Strong C++ programming, architecture, and debugging skills, with excellent knowledge of C#
  • Proficiency with RESTful services, distributed systems, SQL, and NoSQL databases
  • Comfortable working with RESTful APIs, JSON, and network protocol design/implementation
  • Expertise with Unreal Engine or Unity
  • Strong experience with database technologies (ideally MariaDb / MySQL)
  • Wide experience building and deploying cloud-native solutions using Azure, AWS, or GCP services
