midweight Systems Designer
Systems Design focuses on creating and maintaining the foundational gameplay systems that support long-term engagement, player progression, and core mechanics. This role involves designing and implementing systemic features such as rewards, progression structures, economies, and abilities through detailed documentation, prototyping, and scripting. It supports workflows involving iteration, playtesting, data analysis, and balance tuning to ensure systems are functional, engaging, and aligned with player motivations. The role contributes to content and tool pipelines by modeling, testing, and refining systems within technical constraints. It requires close collaboration with teams across engineering, animation, UI/UX, production, and other design disciplines to ensure systems are well-integrated, accessible, and aligned with overall gameplay goals.
- Programming/scripting experience in C++, C#, Lua, or other languages
- Excellent knowledge of game engines (preferably UE 4/5), and pipelines
- Familiarity with Excel and/or relational databases
- Solid understanding of feedback, controls, usability, balancing, and UI/UX
- Understanding of how to create reward/incentive systems
- Experience designing, implementing, and balancing abilities or player-facing systems
- Solid understanding of game design principles including core experience, retention, player progression, player motivations, economy, and balance
